Frequently asked questions
Makeup classes
-
Anemone’s informative classes are structured as 1- or 2-day workshops designed for beginners, aspiring artists, professionals looking to advance their careers, and individuals who simply want to update their makeup.
-
We offer individual or group classes in makeup fundamentals, advanced makeup, and mature makeup.
-
We accept students of all levels. Students with no prior experience are required to attend Makeup Fundamentals before attending other classes.
-
The short answer is yes! There are many successful makeup artists who are self-taught. However, virtual learning requires a greater time investment than in-person makeup training. Both methods will require student passion and dedication, as well as lots of practice on different people of all ages and skin colors.
-
During the class booking process, you will need to complete a personal skin care and makeup questionnaire. You will also be asked to upload two photos: one of yourself with no makeup, and one with how you usually apply your makeup (these photos are for our personal use and will not be shared without your consent). Having this information will allow the instructor to customize and prepare the most effective and beneficial skin care and makeup products for you in advance so you will get the most from the session.
-
It depends on what style of learning is best for you and how quickly you absorb new information, which varies for each person. Whether taking our classes in person or virtually, rest assured that you’ll receive the same level of personal attention and positive feedback.
-
All students must be at least 18 years of age.
-
You can book a class online or contact us to for more information.
-
All our classes are 100% information and in no way designed to be a substitute for obtaining a state esthetician or cosmetology license. Not all states require those applying only makeup to have a cosmetology license (think of cosmetic retail store employees). Find out what regulations apply to you personally by checking with your local government authority.
-
Students who complete both Makeup Fundamentals and Advanced Makeup will receive a certificate of attendance. This document states the classes completed, the date, and are signed by pro makeup artist and instructor Ann Marie Laurendeau.
-
I recommend artists who have good experience and knowledge of basic makeup skills and techniques contact us directly to discuss the additional type of makeup training needed to further their career. All other classes build upon mastery of the techniques taught in the Makeup Fundamentals class.
-
Qualified students may have an opportunity to build their resume and portfolios by assisting/shadowing a senior makeup artist at a photoshoot, TV commercial, event, or wedding.
-
Students have the option of bringing their own professional kits (if they have them) or purchasing a makeup start-up and brush kit at the class.
-
Students attending an Individual Makeup Class should bring a model (friend or family member) over 18 to practice makeup techniques on. In group classes, students practice on each other.

As much as possible, we strive to use products with the best natural ingredients and free of toxins such as parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and harsh chemicals that can be irritating or harmful to the appearance and health of our skin.
